Waltz-Do

Waltz-Do by Yamaki

This appears to be a collaboration between Yamaki and Waltz-Do, a music store chain in Japan. The ad below states “The guitar was developed by a project team at Yamaki and Waltz-Do.”

The guitars feature a “aluminum sash” in the back of the neck that “maintains a beautiful and splendid look and balance.” There are two models listed - a “Special Model” at ¥30,000 and “Custom Model” at ¥50,000. The bottom of the advertisement lists multiple stores that one would assume carried the guitars in period.

The Custom Model has a volute on the back of the headstock and two aluminum strips on the back of the neck. The Special does not have the volute and has a single aluminum sash. Supposedly the bridge pins are at an angle to handle medium gauge strings (rare for a YamakI). Also, we don’t know of another Yamaki model with these unique aluminum sashes.

On the Custom example below, there is a black metal plate that surrounds the truss rod nut (inside the sound hole) that reads “This guitar has been given the guarantee for its quality by us.” So cool.
