Anea EO-9/T

The Anea brand is a bit of a mystery. It is generally believed that after Daion went under in 1984, Anea picked up some of the remaining parts inventory and had both acoustic guitars and electric guitars and basses assembled in Korea (though stickers can say made in Japan).

The Anea EO-9/T was based on the Yamaki / Daion Caribou (The Year Series '81). It does not have the saddle, fret markers, or nut made of brass like the Caribou, however it does retain the signature Daion headstock, body shape (with negative bottom and oval sound hole), and mustache bridge. We can only assume the “/T” is for transducer pickup which is usually located under the bridge saddle. We have seen a wine red and a tinted tan version of this model.

On the example below in the photo gallery, there is a gain control along with a separate bass and treble knob. On the Caribou and Gazelle, it’s just two knobs - one for volume and one for tone. The EO-9/T also appears to have a combination end strap pin and input jack. On Caribous and Gazelles, they are separate.

Being that Aneas are based on leftover Daion inventory, they are considerably more rare than Yamakis and Daions.
